Open toolWhich helper fits your puzzle
The four helpers below all search the same word list, but they take different kinds of clue. Pick the one that matches the information the puzzle has given you rather than the game you are playing — a crossword clue with two known letters is a pattern problem, and a rack of tiles is a letters problem.
| What you have | Use |
|---|---|
| A rack or pool of loose letters, and you want the highest-scoring play | Scrabble Word Finder |
| A fixed number of squares with some letters already placed, e.g. ?a??e | Crossword Word Finder |
| Green, yellow and grey feedback from a daily five-letter guess | Wordle Word Finder |
| Any fixed-length gap where you know a few letter positions | Word Pattern Finder |
How the word list affects your results
Every helper here reads the same list of about 16,750 words drawn from common written English. It is not an official tournament or game dictionary. Rare, technical and inflected forms can be missing, while some names, place names and abbreviations are included even though most word games reject them.
In practice that means a helper is good at reminding you of words you already half-remember, and less reliable as a validity check. Before you play a result, check it against the rules or dictionary of the game in front of you.
