About the character counter
Character limits appear everywhere: page titles around 60 characters, meta descriptions around 160, SMS at 160 per segment, and most social networks somewhere in between. A live count avoids the truncation surprise after publishing.
Counting excludes nothing by default — emoji, punctuation and line breaks are all characters. The without-spaces figure removes every whitespace character.
