About the word unscrambler
A word unscrambler works by comparing the letters you own against a dictionary. Every candidate word is checked letter by letter: if the word never needs more copies of a letter than you hold, it is a valid answer. Blank tiles simply allow one extra letter of any kind.
Longer answers are usually worth the most in board games, so results are grouped from longest to shortest. If you are stuck mid-game, scan the longest group first, then work down until you find a word that fits the board.
Frequently asked questions
How many letters can I unscramble at once?
Up to 15 letters. That covers Scrabble and Words With Friends racks plus most puzzle grids.
Do you support blank tiles?
Yes. Type ? for each blank. Up to two blanks are supported at a time.
Are the words valid in Scrabble?
The tool uses a common English dictionary rather than an official tournament word list, so a small number of obscure tournament words are not included.
Is my input sent anywhere?
No. The dictionary is loaded into your browser and matching happens on your device.
