About the anagram solver
An anagram rearranges every letter of a word or phrase into something new. Two strings are anagrams when their sorted letters are identical, which is exactly how this solver matches candidates against its dictionary.
Anagrams are useful well beyond puzzles: writers use them for character names, cryptic crossword setters build clues around them, and they are a fast way to check whether a jumble has a single tidy solution.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between an anagram solver and an unscrambler?
An anagram solver looks for words that use every letter you entered. An unscrambler also returns shorter words that use only part of your letters.
Can I solve multi-word phrases?
You can enter a phrase and the letters are combined, but results are single dictionary words rather than multi-word anagram phrases.
Why does a word I know not appear?
The dictionary covers common English words. Proper nouns, abbreviations and very rare words are excluded to keep results useful.
