What you can type into Scrabble Word Finder

Your letters
The tiles on your rack, in any order. Duplicate tiles must be typed twice to be used twice.
Blank tiles
Use ? for a blank, up to two. Each blank can become any letter.
Must contain
Optional. Enter a letter that is already on the board to keep only words that can hook onto it.

How the results behave

Sorted by tile value
Highest-scoring words come first, then longer words, then alphabetically. Up to 300 results are shown.
Scores are raw tile values
Each score adds up the standard English letter values only. Double and triple letter or word squares, the 50-point bingo bonus and blanks scoring zero are not applied, so your real score at the board will differ.

Tips

  • The top-scoring word is rarely the best move — check what the placement opens up for your opponent.
  • Two-letter words are how you place a high-value tile on a bonus square; the two- and three-letter guide lists the ones worth memorising.

Common mistakes

  • Treating the score column as a final score. It ignores every board bonus.
  • Assuming a listed word is legal in your game — see the note below.

About the scrabble word finder

Players of Scrabble, Words With Friends and other tile games who want to see which plays their rack allows and roughly what each is worth.

Scores here use the standard English tile values (Q and Z are 10, J and X are 8, and so on) and do not include board bonuses such as double word squares, so treat the ordering as a starting point rather than a final score.

This tool searches a general English dictionary of common words. It is not an official tournament word list, so a small number of obscure tournament-valid words are missing and a few informal words may appear.

Accuracy and limitations

  • This is a general English word list, not the official Scrabble or Words With Friends dictionary, and this site is not affiliated with the owners of those games. Some results will be rejected by your game, and some valid tournament words are missing.
  • Results come from this site's own list of about 16,750 words drawn from common written English. It is not an official game or tournament dictionary: rare, technical and inflected words can be missing, while some names, place names and abbreviations are included even though most word games would reject them. Always check a result against the rules of the game you are playing.

Are these words valid in official tournament play?

We cannot guarantee that. The dictionary here is a general list of common English words rather than an official Scrabble tournament dictionary, so always check against the word list your game uses.

How are the scores calculated?

By adding the standard English letter values for each letter. Board multipliers and blank-tile scoring rules are not applied.
